The boxes are being packed and on March 30 the YMCA will close the doors of its temporary location at 9 a.m. Then a tentative opening date has been set for April 6, but according to an email blast sent out to the YMCA members, the opening date of the new YMCA facility is “contingent upon acquiring a temporary Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Dallas, which allows public use of the facility. We believe that will happen by Monday, April 6th, but we are working toward improving that date.”

It’s been a long journey for the White Rock YMCA. Take a look back at the YMCA’s construction progress through these photos, and then watch our sneak peek video of the facility during its final days of construction.

During the transition period, members will have access to all Dallas YMCA locations at no extra charge. Childcare will be closed, and the only GroupEx classes will be 5:45 a.m. spin and 6 a.m. body blast.

Online membership and program registration will be available.

At the start of the new year, the White Rock YMCA is still within 85-90 percent of its fundraising goal of $14 million. They’ve raised $12 million, but they still need to raise the last $2 million. You can track the progress on the White Rock YMCA website.

The Y is continuing its Click the Brick campaign. Starting at $1,500, community members can purchase a brick with their name on it. Each will receive a yard sign saying “I gave to my Y.” Go to the White Rock YMCA website to learn more.

The YMCA is also recently launched its annual campaign. In 2014, they were able to raise $183,000, which will go towards providing membership and other YMCA services for neighbors who can’t afford them. Learn more on the White Rock YMCA website.
