If you live in Forest Hills, Highland on the Creek or the Enclave, you are super thankful for the Ferguson Road Initiative. The group has made it a mission to transform blighted apartments into a park.

Saturday, Dec. 1, is a big day. At 10 a.m., the City of Dallas and the Ferguson Road Initiative will break ground on the park. This is the first phase of the future White Rock Hills Community Recreation Center project.

Vikki J. Martin, executive director of the Ferguson Road Initiative, invites you to the ground breaking. Expect coffee, donuts, scouts from Mata Elementary School and the choir from Uplift White Rock Hills Preparatory, as well as Councilman Mark Clayton and Park Director Willis Winters. The Ferguson Road Initiative worked with the city of Dallas to transform this location from a crime ridden and burned apartment complex (Rosewood). The group has been working for years to create the recreation center.

Meet at 2229 Highland Road.
