Dallas-based Weitzman Group announced last week that it is taking over as leasing agent for Old Town, the 265,233-square-foot shopping center near Greenville Ave. and Lovers Lane. Built in 1970, its anchors include Borders Books and Music, World Market, Michael’s and PetSmart. It also has Freebirds and Texadelphia.

California-based Westwood Financial Corp. bought the open-air shopping center in 2004. Weitzman also leases another Westwood property, Three Way Central, near Greenville and Southwestern, which features Jamba Juice, the UPS Store and Mr. Gatti’s Pizza. Weitzman now leases seven Westwood properties in the Dallas area.

Old Town is one of Dallas’ oldest retail centers, but has been updated throughout the years. Herbert Weitzman, the group’s chairman and chief operating officer, leased the shopping center when it opened 39 years ago, when he was a broker.
