Woodrow has scores of celebrity alumni many of whom we heard much about over the anniversary weekend and Hall of Fame induction.

But Woodrow isn’t the only East Dallas high school with famous grads. Case in point: every time the Mavs play the Nuggets my husband reminds me that we went to high school at Bryan Adams with Denver power forward Kenyon Martin. I didn’t know Martin personally, but my husband swears he was friends with the guy, who was a standout member of the Cougar basketball team at the time (though I do not remember them being buddies).

Despite a historic questionable attitude and the fact that he helped shame Dirk and the boys yesterday, Martin isn’t so bad — in 2005 he donated $1,000 per point during two separate games to Tsunami victims, and he has bought tickets to every Denver home game since he has been there to less fortunate families.  Martin returns to Big D for game three in Dallas Saturday.
