First up, Granada Theater has two bands playing this weekend. Lucky Peterson on Friday and Andy Timmons Saturday. Peterson’s bio says he was discovered by blues legend Willie Dixon when he was three-years-old and released his first record at five (which, if that’s true, is pretty impressive). He also played with a whole slew of other famous people, so it sounds like a show you don’t want to miss. Then on Saturday, stop by to see Timmons play music by The Beatles and Sgt. Peppers. Buy tickets HERE. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The White Rock Lake Reforestation Project starts this Sat., Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stone Tables Picnic area. The project has had a massive turnout with more than 300 people signed up for the first planting, and they hope to plant 150-200 trees, so grab your work gloves and join the fun. The Yale Alley Cats will wrap up their Texas tour with a performance at Woodrow Wilson High School on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. Come early or stay late for a tour of the new state of the art facility. For MORE.

There are still two more indie films you can catch this weekend. On Friday, Jan. 11th is a showing of  the documentary “A Reason to Live,” by Lakewood’s documentary duo Allen Mondell and Cynthia Salzman Mondell. You can watch this film from the comfort of your own couch by tuning into KERA on Channel 13 at 9 p.m. And on Sunday, Jan. 13th, “31 Days: The Beatles First American Tour,”by East Dallas filmmaker Robert Greeson, is playing at Lakewood Theater at 7 p.m.

And don’t forget the Bath House Cultural Center is featuring three photography exhibits through January. “Lass Blumen Sprechen,” or “let flowers speak,” features the nature photographs of Hans J. Schnitzler and continues running through Jan. 26, as well as “Painting God’s House: The Folk Baroque Churches of Mexico” by Carolyn Brown, and an exhibit called “Vanishing Dallas: Architectural Preservation by Five Photographers,” which began in 2011 as five photographers documented some of the city’s most beautiful and endangered buildings. Entry into the Bath House, located at 521 E. Lawther, is free. Visit the website for hours.
