Veritex Community Bank officer Darlene Ellison, a lifelong neighborhood resident, was honored Thursday by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce with the Pete Sessions Award during the group’s monthly luncheon at Lakewood Country Club.

Sessions, a U.S. Congressional representative whose district encompasses portions of East Dallas and Lakewood, presented the award, which is given annually to an outstanding Chamber member. Ellison received a trophy from the Chamber and a congressional plate and flag from Sessions.

Ellison is chair-elect of the Chamber and has led the group’s new-member efforts for the past few years. She also founded the Lakewood Women in Business and Park Cities/North Dallas Women in Business groups, which promote business opportunities for neighborhood business women.

Ellison’s father, Bud Doxey, served as chairman of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (which merged with the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce years ago).
