VMLC in Dallas is looking for volunteers to teach English to non-English speaking adults at ELM East Dallas at 629 N. Peak one day per week for two hours for 12 weeks from September to December.

VMLC is dedicated to improving English literacy levels among non-English speaking adults and their young children by providing programs in communication and life skills. They do so in the belief that the ability to understand, read, write and speak English contributes to independence, productivity and the overall well-being of the learners, their families and the community.

The minimum age to volunteer is 18. Morning, afternoon and evening hours are available Monday through Thursday. All classes are co-taught. Training and curriculum is provided. All classes are taught in English.

Plan to attend an orientation session in early August to learn more. For more information or to RSVP for an orientation, contact the adult program director Liz Harling at lharling@vmlc.org or 214.265.5057 ext. 102.

There are also opportunities for mentors, computer lab aides, office help, special events and occasional group volunteer projects. To learn more, visit www.vmlc.org or Facebook.
