TraderJoesUpdate

TraderJoesUpdate2How about a photo update of the new Trader Joe’s on Greenville for your Monday viewing pleasure? Trader Joe’s announced in May that they plan to open on Aug. 9. The building is coming along, but a peek in the windows shows a foodless space. No shelves yet either. In fact, it looks all around pretty empty in there. When I passed by this afternoon, I yelled to one of the men who was there working about how things are coming along, and he kindly yelled back that they plan to start building shelves in the next couple of weeks.

Also, have you heard about the food truck park, Truck Yard, that is coming to Lower Greenville right across the street from Trader Joe’s? It’s also set to open in August, and it sounds like it has potential to be pretty dang cool.

If you haven’t heard about it, it’s basically what it sounds like — a yard full of food trucks — featuring Philly cheesesteaks, craft beers, cocktails and the like. The idea is from Jason Boso, the founder of Twisted Root. FoodTruckconstructionThere will be a central building in the yard, as well as a  rotating line-up of three or four food trucks. Central Track says there will also be some “treehouse seating options” for the kiddos.

So far, the construction looks about what you would expect construction on a food truck park to look like — like a mix between a junk yard, a trailer park and a construction site. There’s an old rendering on Culture Map Dallas that looks pretty neat, although you know how renderings are. Guess we’ll see when it opens in August.
