Welcome back, District 2! It is with great honor that I assume the role of your newly elected trustee and start the new school year alongside you all. ‍I believe all children deserve a top-tier education that paves the way for a future brimming with opportunity, and I am immensely proud of District 2’s accomplishments thus far. As a trustee for Dallas ISD, I will work on behalf of our families to secure the resources necessary to equip our kids with the skills, knowledge, and environment they need to succeed in life.

Recently, Dallas Hybrid Preparatory at Stephen J. Hay was highlighted in D Magazine for being the first hybrid learning campus in Texas. Its strides in technology and STEM education contribute to positioning Dallas ISD as a hub of innovation. I would also like to give a shoutout to Anna Sifford from Hillcrest High School for being a recipient of the Rotary Club of Dallas “Service Above Self” teacher award. We are honored to have her serve our students at Hillcrest. Also, congratulations to Woodrow Wilson High School for having a 158% enrollment increase in their ROTC program. These accomplishments underscore dedication and excellence within Dallas ISD.

Junior League of Dallas makes ideas come true for innovative teachers

Thanks to the Junior League for funding this year’s 38 teacher projects in Dallas ISD. Each educator will be granted up to $2,500 to bring their envisioned projects to life, creating captivating and distinct learning opportunities. Congratulations to the following District 2 educators who received grants: Natalie Janssen from Arthur Kramer Elementary School and Mykel Estes of Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy.

September Is Attendance Awareness Month

Help Dallas ISD celebrate Attendance Awareness Month to promote strong, consistent attendance habits that will set students up for success at all grade levels. Each Wednesday throughout the month, team members and students are encouraged to participate in weekly attendance awareness dress-up days.

Welcome, New District 2 Principals

Next, I would like to take a moment to welcome our new principals: Israel Verver at Geneva Heights Elementary School, Bridgett Ladipo at Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy, Lucia Salinas at Dallas Hybrid Preparatory, and James Wallace at K.B. Polk Center for Academically Talented and Gifted. Congratulations and welcome to all.
