My time as your trustee has come to an end and in this final column, I’d like to express how thankful I am to have served on the board for the past seven years. When I embarked on this journey with Dallas ISD, it was a decision driven by my heartfelt desire to give back to my community and support the students of District Two. Today, as I bid farewell, I can honestly say that it has been the honor of a lifetime.

I take immense pride in the remarkable achievements of all 18 District Two schools. Even as I step away, I am confident that they will continue to flourish under the capable hands of the devoted educators and staff who pour their hearts into shaping the lives of our future generations.

I’d like to extend a special shoutout to Hillcrest High School and Woodrow Wilson High School. Congratulations to all of the graduating seniors on their recent graduation. Your accomplishments are a testament to your hard work and perseverance, and the endless support of your teachers, families, and the entire community.

I must also commend Dallas Hybrid Preparatory at Stephen H. Jay for successfully implementing the hybrid learning model. The school has been rated a “B” overall by the TEA, with impressive “A”s in student achievement and school progress. I’m deeply proud of the adaptability and resilience of both the students and the dedicated educators who have embraced innovative approaches to education.

Additionally, I am thrilled to acknowledge the Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy, rated “A” by the Texas Education Agency. That outstanding performance and the numerous distinctions earned in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies exemplify the commitment to academic excellence present within our district.

To all the educators and staff who make every day possible for our students, I offer my sincerest gratitude. Your dedication and passion have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young minds. It is through your tireless efforts that our schools have thrived, and it is because of all of you that I reflect upon this chapter of my life with deep appreciation.

As we turn the page to the next school year, I am filled with hope and optimism. May the upcoming year brim with new opportunities, boundless potential, and prosperity for each and every student. May they find the guidance, support, and encouragement they need to reach for the stars.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt thanks once again to the Dallas ISD community, the students, parents, educators, and team members who have made this experience so rewarding. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your trustee, and I am forever grateful for the trust and support you have bestowed upon me. The memories and lessons learned during my time here will stay with me always. Farewell, and may the spirit of learning and growth continue to thrive within Dallas ISD.
