Making waves in robotics

Casa View Elementary School and Alex Sanger Preparatory School recently competed at the VEX Robotics World Championships at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, and the Casa View Ladybots, an all girls team, brought home gold with the support of their coach, Patricia Cortez. The team hit some of their personal bests and won not only the #GirlPowered Award but also the Build Award. Congratulations to these talented students!

Getting to know District 3’s Master Principals

Ryan Bott, principal at Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, has spent 13 years making memorable moments and transforming student lives as an educator, with eight of those years in Dallas ISD.

His accomplishments include being named Teacher of the Year in Houston ISD for his innovative work as an Algebra I teacher, Dallas ISD 2022-2023 AVID Principal of the Year, and receiving Master Principal designation for the 2022-2023 school year—an honor awarded annually to the top 10% of Dallas ISD principals. Learn more here.

Vivian Chandler Fairley, principal of Emmett J. Conrad High School, also received the Master Principal designation this past school year. Chandler Fairley served as an assistant principal at Conrad for four years and served Dallas ISD for well over a decade as a teacher, campus instructional coach, and assistant principal. Her steadfast commitment to providing students with a superior learning environment is preparing holistic leaders for college and the workforce. Learn more about her accomplishments here.

Providing an outstanding education

The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce recognized Alex Sanger Preparatory School teacher Shaun Phillips and Bryan Adams High School teacher Steven Ramirez as two of the six 2022-2023 Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year award winners.

The award is designed to recognize educators who are providing outstanding education for their respective students. Recipients must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique, and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote education, and I am proud of the work these exemplary educators are doing in District 3.

Celebrating decades of service

Beverly Tillmon, a campus instructional coach at Personalized Learning Academy at Highland Meadows, was recently featured by Dallas ISD for her 53 years of service. She said Dallas ISD was a “natural choice” because of her family’s historical ties to the city of Dallas.

In her years with Dallas ISD, Tillmon has served as a fourth-grade math teacher, a fourth-grade science teacher, a third- to fifth-grade interventionist, a kindergarten to fifth-grade interventionist, a new teacher mentor, and a math instructional coach. Learn more about her here.
