The murder trial for the man accused of killing a transgender woman in 2019 begins this week.
Jury selection for the trial was set to begin today, NBC 5 reported.
Ruben Alvarado is accused of killing Chynal Lindsey, whose body was pulled from White Rock Lake on June 1, 2019. Investigators think Alvarado, the then-22-year-old who was arrested weeks after Lindsey’s body was found, beat Lindsey to death with his hands and other objects.

Lindsey was 26 when she died. Her body was discovered about two weeks after another Black, transgender woman, Muhlaysia Booker, was found fatally shot near Tenison Park Golf Course.
