East Dallas is getting ready for the holidays.

Actually, we’ve been betting ready. Some people have had lights, wreaths and other decorations up in their yards since Nov. 1.

Even though we’re not past Thanksgiving, there are a few events coming up as soon as this weekend that might be of interest to neighbors.

Deck the Hall Street

  • Now through Dec. 31 during business hours: 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday
  • Pop-up event at Fiction Coffee in the Continental Gin Building in Deep Ellum, 3309 Elm St.
  • See a holiday mural, festive decor, photo opportunities and seasonal drinks

Photos with Santa at Mixtitos Kitchen

  • Visit with Santa and support local restaurant Mixtitos Kitchen
  • 7-8 p.m. Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 at Mixtitos, 2706 Samuell Blvd.

Winter Holiday Express

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Harry Stone Recreation Center
  • This free event will include prizes, performances, games and trivia
  • Opportunity to meet Santa

District 14 Holiday Hope Toy Drive

  • Dallas City Council District 14 partners with Behind Every Door to host a toy drive benefitting the kids at Roseland Community Homes
  • Through Dec. 14, drop off new, unwrapped toys, books and clothing at Lakewood Library, Exall Park Recreation Center, Juliette Fowler Communities, City Hall Lobby and Goldrush Cafe
  • Park Board member Rudy Karimi is throwing in a challenge. For a chance to win a $200 gift card to Goldrush Cafe, make a donation at one of the drop-off areas, and post a selfie as you donate the item as a comment on the appropriate Facebook post on the park board member’s Facebook page.

Food drive in Lakewood

  • Kitchen Design Concepts will host a canned food drive benefitting North Texas Food Bank.
  •  The drop-off box will be located on the porch of 6665 Avalon Ave. on Dec. 9-11.

Jingle Dwell

  • 4:30-7 p.m. Dec. 8 at 1127 Conveyor Lane in the Design District
  • Dwell with Dignity’s holiday party
  • To attend, bring an unwrapped item from Dwell with Dignity’s Amazon wish list or make a monetary donation to the nonprofit
  • Live music by House Special, tacos from Tacos, Bites & Beats food truck, cookies from The Cookie Chix, drinks sponsored by Ben E. Keith

Fa La La Lakewood

  • 1:30-5 p.m. Dec. 3
  • Donate new, unwrapped gifts for kids to this curbside toy drive, benefitting Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center
  • Route travels through neighborhood

Light Up Lakewood 

  • 6-9 p.m. Dec. 2 at Lakewood Shopping Center and Harrell Park
  • Tree lighting at Harrell Park
  • Shop for holiday gifts from local sellers
  • Lakewood Shopping Center tenant pop-ups with food samples and giveaways
  • Pictures with Santa
  • Face painting for kids
  • Woodrow Wilson High School Marching Band performance
  • Live DJ

Casa Linda Tree Lighting

  • 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 29 at Casa Linda Plaza
  • See Mr. and Mrs. Claus and elves; photos with Santa cost $5
  • Tree lighting, petting zoo, ice arena
  • Face painter and balloon artist
  • Local food, drinks and hot chocolate
  • Live music by Bryan Adams and Woodrow Wilson choirs, Lakewood Presbyterian and CC Young Singers
  • Bring canned good or new toy to support White Rock Center of Hope

Deep Ellum Noel Nights 

  • 6-9 p.m. Nov. 26 at 2647 Main St. in Deep Ellum
  • Tree lighting, holiday music, s’mores, fire pits, photos with Santa
  • Holiday specials at select local businesses

Light Up Lowest Greenville 

  • 4-8 p.m. Nov. 26 in Lowest Greenville
  • Tree lighting at Son of a Butcher at 7 p.m.
  • Santa will be at Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. starting at 6 p.m.
  • Adults can purchase glassware outside GAPCo. and HG Sply Co. to unlock specials and free items at businesses along Greenville Avenue
