Authorities are working to clear railroad tracks Tuesday morning near the Tenison Park Golf Course after a train derailed the night before.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the derailment of the Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad train at 6:25 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Samuell Boulevard, spokesman Jason Evans said. Upon arrival, fire personnel saw four the train’s 14 cars leaning off the tracks.

One car contained hazardous material, but it remained on the tracks, Evans said. Hazmat technicians were at the scene to assess the situation. No leaks were reported.

As a precaution, authorities evacuated the golf course and shut down all six lanes of Samuell Boulevard from Lawnview Avenue to Tenison Parkway. The boulevard remained closed as of 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reported. The golf course was open except for four holes on the east side of the course.

A team from the railroad company will arrive Tuesday to decide how to respond, authorities said.

The cause of the derailment remains unclear. No injuries were reported.
