“Rear Window” screens outside the Angelika tonight, Oct. 20, after sundown, as part of Mockingbird Station’s “Hitchcocktober”. It’s free.

The Stonewall Jackson Elementary School fall carnival is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. Admission to the carnival is free, and tickets to ride or play games are 50 cents each. A wristband for unlimited rides and games costs $25.

Neighborhood resident Sol Villasana will give a presentation about his book Dallas’s Little Mexico from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Lakewood Branch Library.

There is a street sale over in the Riverside antiques district, at 141 Howell. That’s not in the neighborhood, but it is hosted by neighborhood resale shop Again & Again, and it features several local businesses, such as the Pearl Cup. It sounds like a fun party: More than 200 vendors, food trucks and a DJ. Plus, Again & Again is marking everything 75 percent off.

A free wine tasting from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Stoney’s Fine Wines features wines from Portugal.

The Texas State Veggie Fair is from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at Winfrey Point.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation of Texas is bringing story time to Half Price Books at 1 p.m. Sunday. Chef Steven Pilat of Art Institute of Dallas is the guest storyteller. Children and parents are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes. There will also be crafts and refreshments. The Starlight foundation is an initiative to make serious illness bearable for children in hospitals by delivering teddy bears to them.

The Promise of Peace Chili, Jazz and Blues Fest is from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $5, and Miss Marcy performs with Carolyn Jones. There’s also beer, chili and activities for kids. Admission is free for kids younger than 12.
