East Dallas-based artist and musician Frank Lopez will showcase his work at Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art — a really neat event if you’ve never been — He’s there from 7- 9 p.m., in the main concourse, halfway up the walkway by the stairway, near the so-called "big green machine.”
Friday night you can ring in the Year of the Tiger with a Chinese street parade down on Flora at 8. There will be a trippy and very cool giant glow-in-the-dark dragon, kung fu demos, Chinese fortune telling, live music, face painting, and beer tasting — all for free (yes, even the beer is free.)
Not an official Olympic sport, but … Freebirds World Burrito will host a Super Monster Burrito Eating Contest Saturday, Feb. 20, at all three Dallas locations — that’s Old Town on Greenville in our neck of the woods — beginning at noon. A $12 entry fee gets you in the race to finish the Super Monster Burrito first, for a photo on the Freebird wall, a Fanatic card with a preloaded free burrito, a Freebirds T-shirt, and of course, bragging rights. Note: If you live in my house or work in my office, please disregard the thing about the burrito-eating contest.
