I was sitting in the backyard yesterday afternoon, and three airplanes — or the same plane three times — flew over, headed toward what appeared to be Love Field. This is not all that unusual, except that the three planes seemed to be World War II-era B-17 bombers. (I know this because men of my generation spent much of their youthful idle time building model airplanes, and the models were usually planes from WW II. My favorite was the P-47 Thunderbolt, because it had a cannon.)

The planes were also reasonably low, so we could hear the rumble of the engines, which was actually kind of spooky. Does anyone know why the planes were there? I seem to recall there is an air show at Love Field in the spring, but it has been a few years since I remember reading about it.
