Although, like its neighbors Gallery Central and the Wine Therapist, they are being asked to move by their landlord, Stonelake Capital Partners, the move is actually working in the child care center’s favor.

EDDC_moving3The center is gaining extra square footage, a quiet, fenced-in play area (unlike the play cages they have in the back parking lot now), more parking, safer entrance and exits for the kiddos, and a fresh start in a newly renovated building.

Spokesperson Lexi Harper says they plan to move on Sept. 19, so they are in the process of building and fundraising now.

“A group of architects, lawyers, contractors, financial analysts, realtors and others make up the EDDC family,”  Harper says. “The parents have designed the new space themselves and will be actively involved in renovations from start to finish.”

EDDC_moving4EDDC has been a fixture in East Dallas for over 30 years and has educated hundreds of children, from six weeks to five years, in that time. The waitlist to get in to the school is long, so this expansion is much-needed.

To help with the cost of renovating the new space, EDDC is kicking off a fund-raising effort called EDDC On the Move. Email Brooke Robb at eddcparentgroup@gmail.com to learn more or to make a donation.
