The Dance Council’s "Dance for the Planet" festival at Samuell-Grand Park this weekend offers 14 free dance classes. Comfort Fedoke, who attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts and was a favorite on the TV show contest "So You Think You Can Dance?" will teach four of the free classes.

The festival, which is set for Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., also will feature performances from dance troupes and the typical festival fare. Admission is free. Click here for a full listing of the one-hour dance classes.

Fedoke, who specializes in hip-hop dance, will teach a class for kids ages 7 to 12, starting at  2 p.m. She teaches a class for teenagers and older starting at 4 p.m. But I am intrigued by the 5 p.m. class titled "Line Dancing Craze," which promises instruction on "Apple Bottom Jeans," "Cupid Shuffle" and "Back in the Day." I wonder if those are more complicated than the Ricky Bobby.
