Curriculum. Class Size. Funding. Technology. None of those factors contribute more to student success than good teachers. Almost everyone can name a teacher that has made a difference in their life, and now, neighbors have the chance to show their appreciation.

The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce is soliciting nominations for its annual Teacher of the Year awards, which recognize educators who have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs that improve and promote education.

Individuals must be employed as full-time classroom teachers, lab instructor or coaches. They will be evaluated on professional practice, community engagement, leadership in professional practice and attention to diversity.

Nominations must be made by Oct. 12. Simply fill out a nomination form online, email it to or mail it to the chamber at 9543 Losa Drive, Suite 118.

Six awards will be presented to elementary, middle and high school teachers at public and private school teachers during a Nov. 19 event at the Lakehill Preparatory School Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center, 7401 Ferguson Road.
