The original location in West Dallas opened in 2015, and the taqueria expanded to the 2000 block of Greenville Avenue in December 2018. Both locations have been closed since mid-March because of the coronavirus.

Owner Jesús Carmona told the Dallas Morning News that he chose to close because it wasn’t profitable to offer takeout and delivery only.

“Greenville is not as consistent during COVID-19,” Carmona told the Morning News. “There is no walk-up traffic when the bars are closed. It gets very quiet. Now with the bars closed again, it’s not profitable to open it back up.”

Tacos Mariachi served street seafood tacos inspired by his travels. His famous pulpo taco — with grilled octopus, asadero cheese and fresh avocado on a corn tortilla — caught the attention of Guy Fieri, and the eatery was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

The location at 602 Singleton Blvd. is being remodeled, and Carmona plans to reopen in July or August. He may also relocate the eatery.
