Victoria, Katie and Alexa are all third-graders. They’re in the same Junior Girl Scouts troop. They became friends at St. Thomas Aquinas school. And they all have type one diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes.

For the third year in a row, these girls are walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk, which this year is Sept. 25 at the American Airlines Center.

A team of about 60 classmates, friends, family members and Girl Scouts are walking with them. Over the past two years, the team has raised more than $12,000 for juvenile diabetes research.

“The reason we’re raising money is that insulin isn’t a cure,” says Pebble Babero, who is walking with her daughter, Victoria.

Victoria’s fund-raising goal is $1,500. Visit her JDRF site to watch her progress and donate.
