New to Dallas, but already insanely popular in other places, the Slutty Vegan, a no-meat eatery with roots in Atlanta and locations in New York and Birmingham, Ala., will open this summer at 2707 Main.

CEO Pinky Cole, the visionary behind the brand, according to a press release, chose Deep Ellum for its “strong cultural roots as one of the first commercial districts in the city for African-Americans.”

Since launching the company in 2018, Cole has built a “game-changing empire that’s dedicated to reinventing vegan food culture, where vegans and meat-eaters alike can break free from kale and quinoa salads,” according to the presser.

“Crave-worthy” menus and “joyful customer interactions” tend to create great demand at Slutty Vegan locations in other cities, says the press release, and that’s also backed up by articles in The New Yorker and elsewhere.

Celebrities including Snoop Dogg, Tyler Perry and Queen Latifah are among rumored fans of Slutty Vegan sandwiches including the One Night Stand, a burger loaded with vegan bacon, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun; the Fussy Hussy, loaded with pickles, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun; or the Hollywood Hooker, a vegan chopped Philly with jalapeños, bell peppers and caramelized onions, vegan provolone, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and vegan mayo on a hoagie roll.

Slutty Vegan, a $100 million chain according to Bloomberg, has 10 existing brick-and-mortar locations. But it all began with one in Atlanta.

“Atlanta was once the only city where you could have a One Night Stand and then come home to your spouse and brag about it — but soon you’ll be able to do it in cities across the US,” noted Bloomberg editor Brenton Mock, who wrote about the CEO’s generosity within the communities in which she operates.

“If there’s anything actually promiscuous about Cole’s brand it’s her plans to share the bread and the wealth. Though only in her fifth year of business,” he wrote in 2022, “she already has a foundation that she uses to give scholarships to juvenile offenders and provide resources for virgin entrepreneurs. Last month, when giving the commencement speech at her alma mater Clark Atlanta University, she announced she would be gifting an LLC to any graduate who wanted one and has, over the years, paid off 30 of its graduates’ college debts.”

This past winter, Cole’s cookbook, Eat Plants, B*tch: Vegan Recipes that will blow your meat-lovin’ mind, earned top recognition with a NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Instructional Literary Work.

The Deep Ellum location, a 2,500 square-foot space offering counter service from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and noon-11 p.m. weekends, will be Texas’ virgin Slutty Vegan voyage.
