I don’t understand why the Dallas street services department would tear up our streets, just to leave them that way for a couple of weeks. Hasn’t Skillman from Belmont to Live Oak been a grisly mess for about a week and a half now? Bracing myself for the thud when the pavement drops from a normal down to a gravelly level has become almost habitual for me. Drivers up and down Skillman experienced a similar problem earlier this year, but on a smaller scale.

I’m all for street repairs, but it seems like there should be a more logical way to fix our roads — such as tear them up one night and fill them up the next night. I confess that I haven’t yet contacted the city to see if there are any logical explanations for the delay, but even supposing such an explanation exists, this is the kind of thing that frustrates neighbors and makes them feel like the city is either unorganized or inept.
