DISD parents will be able to pre-register tomorrow, July 25, and Saturday, June 27, to receive school supplies at the Aug. 6 Mayor’s Back to School Fair at Fair Park

Organizers say that because of the struggling economy, they are expecting more people than ever to attend the 13th annual Mayor’s Back to School Fair, at which free school supplies will be distributed. In order to avoid standing in long lines and or missing out altogether at the upcoming fair, DISD will give folks the opportunity to register early for the free supplies during a mini fair Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Felix G. Botello Elementary School, 225 S. Marsalis.

Thursday’s event will serve as a mini fair complete with vision and dental screenings, haircuts by Cedric the Barber, distribution of school supplies and antics by Mavs Man, according to organizers.

Eligible families can also register early between 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday June 27 at the Whataburger at the corner of Haskell and Capitol.
