Dallas ISD has submitted a rezoning request to allow for the addition of an electronic marquee sign and athletic facilities at Bryan Adams High School.
The current zoning of the property is planned development district. DISD wants to amend the planned development district to install an electronic marquee sign near the main entrance of the school. An amendment is needed because the sign is within the minimum setback for a non-business rule sign.
Karl Crawley of Masterplan, which is representing the district, says the sign will allow DISD to post messages to keep parents, students and neighbors updated with news.
The sign would be placed forward on the property to increase visibility and prevent any trees from being removed.
Also, the school wants to add batting cages for baseball and softball fields as well as an addition to the athletic facility currently under construction, specifically the locker room. These aren’t classroom spaces, so the total enrollment of the school won’t be affected by the buildings.
