  • Just a few days left of November, but it’s not too late to get involved in the Movember movement and help out the Men of Long at J. L. Long Middle School, who are raising money and awareness about testicular and prostate cancer research. Go to their page to learn more.
  • Coming up on Monday, Dec. 1 is the Liberty Burger Give Back Monday Night for Lakewood. From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., support Lakewood Elementary by bringing this flyer into Liberty Burger when you eat there, and Liberty Burger will donate 10 percent of your total bill to Lakewood Elementary.
  • And then, a couple weeks down the road is the Liberty Burger Give Back Tuesday on Dec. 16, in which you can bring in this flyer from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Liberty Burger will donate 10 percent of your total bill to J. L. Long Middle School.
  • Put these performances on your calendar: The Woodrow Wilson High School Band and Variations is performing at Light Up Lakewood on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.to 9 p.m. at Lakewood Village at 4130 Abrams Rd. Woodrow Wilson High School is performing “The Nutcracker” on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson High School and the Woodrow Band is also playing a winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. at the high school. The concert is free, but they ask you bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots.
  • You can also bring a new, unwrapped toy to Student Services at J. L. Long Middle School during the week of Dec. 1-5. All toys collected will be donated to WFAA Santa’s Helpers.
