  • On Thursday, students at Stonewall Jackson Elementary will be wearing Texas Ranger t-shirts. Why? Because student Cam McGuire won a visit from Texas Ranger left fielder David Murphy, so Murphy will be visiting Stonewall to hang out with McGuire and his second grade classmates.
  • Lipscomb Elementary has installed a “Little Free Library” in the school’s garden. Resembling large birdhouses, the Little Free Libraries are weatherproof cabinets with a couple of dozen books inside. The books were gathered by Lipscomb parents and neighbors, and they are available to anyone. Borrow one, read it, bring it back, or bring another. No cards, no fines.
  • This  is the last week to donate to Lakewood Elementary’s Stallion Strong fundraising campaign. Lakewood Elementary is also looking for Secret Pals, if you’re interested. Or, the Stallion Store needs volunteers as well.
  • Don’t forget to vote for Stonewall Gardens in the Gardens for Good competition, so they can receive a $15,000 grant. You can vote once a day through September. They’re competing with community gardens across the country and, at last check, are within top 7.
