Today may be Halloween but East Dallas children got a head start on collecting candy during the weekend.
On Saturday, Alex Sanger Elementary held a trunk-or-treat at the school for children in the area. Carolina Cerrillo, the school’s parent liaison, said there were at least 20 cars present with parents and teachers passing out candy from the open vehicles. District 9 Councilman Mark Clayton and his wife Kelly, whose children attend Sanger, even donned their own spooky costumes and made a special appearance joining in on the fun to hand out candy to the children.

This was the second year the school put on the family-friendly event and, according to Cerrillo, they “had a really good turnout.”
She added there were more than 50 people who showed up for the 5-7 p.m. event.
And while the candy must have been good, the costumes were probably a little bit better.
