In the survey, available here, respondents answer whether they support the installation of such a court at the park and whether they want to receive information about community meetings regarding the court. There’s also a box to leave a custom comment.

(Note: An earlier version of the survey included a phrase that indicated the park may be renamed. That was an error, and the wording has been updated. Renaming is not on the table.)

This is not a new idea for the park. Friends of Tietze Park has been talking about adding a sand volleyball court there since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the pandemic slowed the process down, the friends group started really working on the project again last year.

The court will be paid for by a fund-matching program. The friends group will contribute half of the money, and the park department will cover the other half, through the 2017 bond program.

Tietze Park, which was founded in 1924, has an aquatic center, walking/running trail, playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a pavilion with picnic tables. The volleyball court would be located on the east side of the park between the parking lot and the pool. Currently, the area is covered in grass.

The park is located at 2700 Skillman St., just south of Skillman Church of Christ.
