The Sam’s Club Now on Greenville Avenue is testing a new feature on its Scan & Go app that is meant to simplify purchases of large items.
Now, when a customer is shopping in store and wants to buy an item that would be hard to take home, they can use the Scan & Go app. They just scan a bar code or shelf tag of the item, and it gets added to their bill. Customers can also choose different colors or sizes of the item and expect to have it delivered within five business days.
Thirteen items in the store will be included in the scan-and-ship pilot.
The test is happening at two other Sam’s Clubs besides the one in East Dallas: one in McKinney and one in Murrieta, California.
This isn’t the first time the store in our neighborhood was ground zero for new technologies. It opened in 2018 without any cashier lines, making the app the only way to check out. At the time, Eddie Garcia, the vice president of end-to-end experience, told the Dallas Morning News the Lower Greenville location was a great place to try out new features because the local customers are tech-savvy, on-the-go neighbors in their 20s and 30s, or young families.
