Founded earlier this year by Theo Murdaugh, Run It Up Dallas aims to provide a supportive space for people of color to embark on their health and fitness journeys.

The club meets three times a week and welcomes runners of all levels. In addition to regular runs, the club hosts monthly social events and collaborates with local businesses in East Dallas to provide exclusive perks for members.

Run It Up Dallas also impacts the greater Dallas community through service projects and fundraising engagements in the neighborhood. The club makes it a point to patronize local Black businesses.

According to Murdaugh there was a noticeable lack of running groups solely for Black and brown runners. As a result of this disparity, he created a running group that focuses on people of color. After three months of launching the running group, the organization shifted from 20 to roughly 300 people.

“Run It Up Dallas is about more than just running; it’s about creating a family that supports and uplifts each other,” Murdaugh said in a statement.

Murdaugh’s vision has blossomed into a transformative movement where participants engage and exercise with like-minded individuals within the community.

“Joining Run It Up Dallas has been life-changing. The sense of belonging and the encouragement I receive have made my fitness journey so much more enjoyable,” one member shared.
