According to Yardstick’s website, the dog hotel will open in May offering overnight boarding, day care and grooming services. Yardstick will operate out of the former Rue21 space next to indoor playground Down to Play.

Yardstick launched in 2022 in Nashville as a boutique, high-end dog daycare and hotel. The company currently operates three facilities in Nashville and opened its first location outside of Tennessee in the Design District in early February.

During the day at Yardstick, dogs are separated into three rooms organized by size. Playgroups are limited to 12 or less dogs, and breaks are scheduled to give pets down time. Daycare is available from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and reservations are required.

With nighttime service, which has been described as the brand’s “bread and butter,” dogs are boarded in individual suites designed for noise reduction. While pet owners must provide meals for their dog’s stay, they can also order treats and toys from the Yardstick shop for “room service.” Yardstick partners with local vets in case of emergencies and supervisory staff is maintained overnight.

Grooming offerings at Yardstick facilities are limited to “bathtime” services. Available for daytime and nighttime clients, services available include baths, dental chews, nail grooming and ear cleaning.

Yardstick will occupy a 7,510 square foot space when it opens in May, according to Dallas’s online permit database. It will be the company’s fifth dog hotel and second location in Dallas.
