An East Dallas bar may have a new owner, but it’s not getting a new name.
Ross & Hall will remain a straightforward neighborhood bar with affordable and well-made food, Culture Map reported.
“I love the name,” owner Jason Caswell told Culture Map. “Honestly, the hardest thing when you open a bar is to name it. Where’s the bar? On the corner of Ross and Hall. What’s the name? Ross & Hall.”
The renovated building at 3300 Ross Ave. was originally home to Houston-based sports bar Little Woodrow’s. But in 2017, it was purchased by the restaurateurs behind the similarly named State & Allen, Nodding Donkey and Social Pie.
“I think the two previous businesses had some staffing and management issues,” Caswell told Culture Map. “I’ll run this the way I run all my other bars — we’re very hands-on. People like to see the owner when they go into a place.”
The new owner said he plans to utilize the location’s courtyard patio and large parking lot, while also making modifications. Changes to the location will include extending the hours of operation until 2 a.m. and altering the drink list to make it more neighborhood friendly, he said.
Caswell and his partner Shawn Corley have a history of rebooting dying eateries. In 2017, Caswell took over LG Taps on Greenville Avenue, which has thrived under his ownership, according to Culture Map.
