East Dallas’ Ross Avenue has been a trending spot for commercial and residential real estate in recent years.

The bar is inspired by the brother’s father who worked as a bartender in the neighborhood during the late 70s, early 80s.

“My dad, and the nostalgia for the 1980s era of this neighborhood, are the inspirations for this concept. The name ‘Rodeo Cold’ is something my dad called beers that weren’t as cold as they once were but were nonetheless refreshing as always,” Ian Fletcher, General Partner at Rodeo Cold said.

The name’s origin comes from an old Texas saying referring to a once icy, but now slightly cool beer in an ice chest in the back of your pick-up truck after a long day at the rodeo or ballgame.

Rodeo Cold will encompass a cowboy atmosphere for which Texas has become known. The inside bar, imagined to be the soul of the concept, will be full of character with crass, yet playful furnishings and a full kitchen, ready to serve, approachable, neighborhood fare.

Outside the Rodeo is 13,000 square-foot backyard seating with “climate-controlled” patio full of yard games, outdoor seating and stage with a drive-in movie theater-style screen

“My brother and I have been working on the concept for Rodeo Cold for quite some time. When putting together the food and beverage menus, we wanted to put something into place that would honor our dad, and the nostalgia of a good, neighborhood dive bar. We will have everything from Frito-pies to chicken fingers. And, of course, a Texas Chili as an ode to our father. While our cocktails might be low brow in nature, they’ll be sophisticated and innovative in concept and execution,” Eric Fletcher, General Partner at Rodeo Cold said.

Rodeo Cold will be open Monday through Sunday for daytime and evening bar service.
