The real estate sign on the northwest corner of Richmond and Abrams is back up again; this property is the former home of Mustang Auto, and it’s adjacent to the Wachovia Bank site, which was the former home of Lakewood Furniture. Anyway, I contacted the broker and asked about price, and I was told the property owner prefers a ground lease to a retailer as opposed to selling the property outright. No price or sales flyer link is available yet, but we’ll let you know when we run across more information.

The for sale/lease sign originally went up on the property a few years ago when the buildings on it were scraped, but the last time we checked with the owners (a year or so ago), they had pulled down the sign because the offers coming in weren’t anywhere near what they wanted. If you’ll remember, the site was rumored to be a possible home for a free-standing FedEx/Kinko’s at one point, while other rumors had a couple of fast-food places jockeying for it. Nothing ever panned out, though.

Interesting side note: I first saw the sign go up a few weeks ago, but instead of its current location, it was installed on the southeast corner of the same intersection … that’s right, the Whole Foods site. I saw the sign driving home one night, and before I had a chance to make a phone call to find out why Whole Foods was already putting its building on the market, the sign was moved to the correct location. Bet that sign guy got an earful from somebody.
