The patio plants are looking good — beets and spinach are sprouting, and the folks at Garden Cafe have planted Swiss chard, kale, collard greens, and romaine lettuce to use in the upcoming season, and they have a new chef on staff. Mark Wootton has worked for Social and Central 214 where he learned from our friend, celebrity Chef Blythe Beck. Plus, the neighborhood cafe is bringing back its popular Poetry Night — Nov. 12. A $35 (tax, gratuity and corkage fee included) three-course dinner is  followed by open mic poetry.  Bring your own bottle of beer or wine and your favorite piece of poetry, original or borrowed. It’s a sure-fire way to impress a date.
