This isn’t the first time we’ve reviewed Bryan Street Tavern. We ate there for the first time soon after it first opened in 2009, and I must confess, I was being too kind when I said the pizza was “good”.

The pizza actually was not very good at that time, mostly because it was undercooked, but I guess I could see the potential, and I wanted this cool little place to be successful. They didn’t need any help from me. The place now is a popular hangout.

And you guys, I swear, the pizza is so good. The crust is thin, but not too thin, with a pleasing chewiness. I like the Tavern Favorite, which comes with peperoni, Jimmy’s sausage, onions and mushrooms. A 19-inch large costs $19.95 and can feed four hungry people, no problem.

I took some friends there recently to sit in the beer garden out back, and they were impressed with the view of downtown Dallas, which Eater has mentioned. I brought some leftover pizza to another friend, and now it’s the only pizza he wants to eat. It might actually be my new favorite place for pizza in Dallas, although Louie’s still wins for Caesar salad.

Bryan Street Tavern also has become my favorite place in the neighborhood to watch a game on TV. There are several big TVs above the bar, and the tables are arranged so you can watch from most of them. When an important game is on, they kill the jukebox and turn up the sound on the game.
