As the year ends, East Dallas residents witnessed another historic home bulldozed.
The 20th-century Mediterranean Mansion, known as the “Buckner House,” located at 1425 N. Buckner Blvd was slated for demolition Friday morning. The demolition was completed by 11 a.m.
A nearby resident who has lived across the street for 32 years said they hadn’t witnessed any occupancy in the last 15 years. The home was unlivable and in a state of “complete despair,” leading to various break-ins and trespassing, they added.
Neighbors on Facebook have expressed concerns for preserving historical homes in Lakewood as opposed to the recent demolitions.
One resident on the Facebook group compared it to “slamming a hammer onto a Michaelangelo.”
Earlier this year, Hutsell at 7226 Lakewood was demolished on Oct. 23.
