The frogs have recently been repainted by artist Ken Robison, who said he worked with Bob “Daddy-O” Wade, the creator of the dancing statues.

Robison told us that the frogs will be moved back to Lowest Greenville’s Truck Yard once the renovation of the bar is complete.

Truck Yard has been closed since November and has been hesitant to share details about the renovation project, but the last update we received was that the bar will reopen in March. From the street, we can see a building addition and new concrete.

Six frogs used to be housed at the Tango nightclub on Greenville Avenue, back in the 1980s. Over time, they were separated, but three returned to our neighborhood in 2014, when Taco Cabana was open on Greenville. (That building now houses a Starbucks.)

After Taco Cabana closed in 2020, the frogs were donated to Truck Yard, which opened on Sears Street in 2013.

Jason Boso, who owns Truck Yard, told the Advocate at the time that he wanted the “unfrogettable” artwork to be an Instagram-worthy staple in Dallas.
