Jenifer McNeil Baker, a Lakewood resident and talented photographer who has donated her time and services to the Lakewood Home Festival the last few years, was kind enough to share with us the photos she took of the Bromberg house and property at 3201 Wendover. The house was on the fall 2016 Lakewood home tour and is featured in March’s home design issue.

We asked Baker about her experience photographing the historic home and the expansive property, and this is what she told us:

“I was mostly surprised at how on trend the entire house still is. Many of the original features of the home (graphic stair balustrade, chevron paneled doors and ceiling, modern cabinetry) feel just as modern today. I was also impressed with the condition of the home. Though it has been fully restored, the custom windows and doors are all original. They function beautifully.

“The property is amazing. Standing on the second floor wraparound porch, you can’t see any other houses. You truly feel surrounded by nature in the middle of the neighborhood. I spent a few hours roaming the property at sunset.  The property felt wild and natural but had obviously been tamed and planned just enough. Finally, for such a prominent home, the front elevation of the house is welcoming and modest.  It lacks the showiness and grandeur that seems so requisite today. It is at the same time elegant, refined, casual and homey.”

The photo at top and those below are a few of Baker’s that we didn’t have room for in the March magazine.
