By all accounts this is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith dressed, as one Casa View Neighborhood Facebook page member commented, as if he had just emerged from a shopping spree at Casa View Thrift. The image shows fans crowding the sidewalk in front of Hit Records on Ferguson, as Tyler tips his khaki beret.

(If you took the above pic, let us know so we can credit you. Casa View resident Derek Jackson posted the image to Casa View’s page. He says he isn’t sure who took it; someone just texted him this link, he says.)

I tried all morning to call Hit Records to confirm that that is indeed Tyler at Hit Records and that it wasn’t taken, like, 15 years ago, but no one is answering yet. (I’ll keep trying).

But we do know this: Hit Records owner Ron Ross, told the Advocate in 2010 that the members of Aerosmith (as well as members of AC/DC and, when they were all alive, The Ramones) frequently visit his store.

“All these bands come in here to shop, not to play. I sell stuff you can’t get at Walmart,” Ross said back then.

He told the Advocate at the time that he has a 37-year-old friendship with Tyler. “Look, to this day, you can still go see the Rolling Stones perform with the original lineup,” Ross said. “You can’t say that about many bands besides Aerosmith.”

Also, when we interviewed Ross, he was wearing Aerosmith pants (very unfortunately not pictured).

And the strongest evidence that this is Steven Tyler outside Hit Records this week is a tweet from the rock god himself, which read, “ON MY WAY TO HIT RECORDS RIGHT NOW IN DALLAS… GETTIN’ ME SOME RON ROSS LOVE!”
