Garland cops tried to pull over Stoffon Lorains Cooper, 47, for driving 40 mph in a school zone, but he fled and the chase was on. At one point, he stopped his blue minivan, got out and yelled at the pursuing officer that he was God.

Police found that Cooper was wanted for multiple traffic warrants, and they were joined by Dallas officers and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Coverage from NBCDFW shows Cooper cutting through gas station parking lots and weaving through a car wash. When police finally arrested him at 7-Eleven, they found a machete strapped to his side.

Dallas police took Cooper to Garland, where he was booked into the city jail.
