U.S. Marshals on Friday arrested Dagoberto Castanon and Rogelio Avila who now face murder charges.

After the fatal collision at Homer and Monticello, the suspects fled the scene on foot but left behind a cell phone inside the stolen mini-van. That led police to a girlfriend who shed light on what happened shortly after the crash.

According to information released by police, the girlfriend (who hasn’t been named) said Castanon showed up at her house with cuts to his head, explaining that he and Avila had stolen a van and been in an accident. It’s unclear how police eventually tracked the pair down in Florida.
