East Dallas natives Kendall Scudder and Lillian Salerno made their mark in the podcast world with the debut of Pod Bless Texas. After 25 action-packed episodes, listeners could not get enough of the hosts’ humorous take on Texas politics. So, the witty and feisty duo is back for another season.
Pod Bless Texas will kickstart its second season with a Dallas launch party. The event is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Lot. Festivities will include a special episode recording, light bites and even some renown karaoke by Kendall Scudder. For more information about the event and ticket prices, click here.
If you haven’t listened yet, Salerno and Scudder are former political candidates (and election losers) with almost 20 years of combined political experience. In a story from earlier this year, the duo told the Advocate that their podcast was born on election night when they left the Dallas County Democratic Party at the Hyatt Regency and went to karaoke at the East Dallas bar, The Royal Pour.
“We’re not journalists. We’re not even sure we’re entertainers, but we’re in the know, and we want to share it with people,” Scudder says. “If you’re a regular Joe or Jane, then we’re folks you can relate to. Some elected people just don’t get it.”
The first season featured some of the state’s most important figures in the political scene. Leaders of the Texas Democratic Party, Progress Texas, Planned Parenthood Greater Texas, ACLU Texas, The Texas Tribune and even presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand.
