A couple weeks ago I mentioned that Matt Tobin and Josh Yingling, the duo behind The Blind Butcher and Goodfriend Burger Bar, finally opened that new package store on Peavy they’ve been talking about forever.

Goodfriend Package is a deli/convenient store set up, so the concept is basically the opposite of Goodfriend — beer to-go plus sandwiches. There are places to sit, if you’d like to eat your sandwich there, but you can’t drink alcohol on the premise. So if you want to eat and drink you’ll have to take it home or go next door to Goodfriend.

The space features plenty of wood (we’re assuming it’s reclaimed), metal and stained concrete. The sandwiches are pricey at around $10-$13, but they’re flavorful and many use meat hauled in from Blind Butcher. There’s a slew of beer options to choose from (as you can see from the pictures), and if you like a little variety you can mix-n-match your six-pack.

One of the most surprising things is that they serve breakfast starting at 7 a.m., and they have a hearty menu with things like egg biscuit sandwiches, corned beef and potato hash, and pancakes.

Goodfriend Package is located at 1155 Peavy. Go to their Facebook page for more.
