East Dallas neighbor Nikola Olic, a Serbian-born photographer who creates images that look more like optical illusions than photographs, is showcasing his work at an exhibition in Uptown.

The show at Afterimage Gallery opened Jan. 11 and will run through Feb. 25.

“They are one of the oldest photography-only, fine art galleries in all of the United States,” Olic told the Dallas Morning News. “It’s been a wonderful experience for both of us. Now they’re doing a solo show of my photographs.”

The show will feature 20 of Olic’s signature abstract architectural photos. Through tightly cropped images that collapse time and space, Olic highlights the hidden beauty of buildings that neighbors have driven past a thousand times.

The exhibition will feature plenty of images from Dallas, as well as photos from his travels in Hong Kong, China, Italy and more.

Olic’s first solo exhibition comes about a year after he showed his work with other artists at Art on Henderson.
