Walmart on Lowest Greenville, where Whole Foods Market used to be, is set to close later this month on Jan. 28. Dallas Culture Map says Walmart is shutting down 269 stores, 29 in Texas. Councilman Philip Kingston told the Dallas Morning News he’s not surprised.

Remember that one time foooooreeeeeverrrr ago when we heard Matt Tobin and Josh Yingling, the guys behind The Blind Butcher and Goodfriend Burger Bar, planned to open a new package store on Peavy, across the street from Goodfriend? Eater Dallas says it finally opened this week. They will serve beer and sandwiches.

Vickery Towers is finally coming down. According to the Dallas Morning News, demolition crews are knocking down the landmark building at Greenville and Belmont. It has been empty for nearly two years ago, and the DMN says Columbia Pacific Advisors plans to build a new apartment community on the site with more than 400 units. Read more.
