Remember neighbor Judy Lowe? We wrote about her way back in July about her children’s books, “The Little White Light” and “MJ’s New Friend.”

Lowe recently found out her second book, “MJ’s New Friend,” is an award finalist in the North Texas Book Festival.

The book is about a boy who meets a new friend who’s a little odd. Spoiler alert: turns out he’s an alien. And a pretty cool-looking one in the illustration by Ayuna Collins and David Edward Martin. The book is meant to teach children about courage, acceptance and diverse friendships.

Both of her books are available on Amazon.com, if you’d like to check them out. If you’d like to meet Lowe in person, she will be signing and selling copies of both of her books at the North Texas Book Festival.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit schools, public libraries, and literacy programs in North Texas. So support our schools, and while you’re at it, enjoy hundreds of books for all ages, plus speakers, readers, workshops, storytime for the kiddos and more. Admission is free. Visit the website to learn more.
