The historic Mrs. Baird’s building at Carroll and Bryan, along with about 8 blocks (about 12 acres of land) have been snapped up by an investment partnership between Bryan Street and Ross Avenue, according to Steve Brown with the News. Plans are to turn the Mrs. Baird’s building into residential units and build townhomes and residential on the rest of the properties. It’s just another sign that development is creeping from downtown toward us just as it creeps from us toward downtown. If gas prices keep going up, the city council is going to look brilliant for handing out all of that subsidy money to downtown developers…
